| St Andrew's Website is Now Interactive |

“OK, great! We’ve got our website up, now what do we
do with it?” Twelve years ago when you visited a
website, you’d wait for the page to load, look at
it...maybe click on the picture gallery, and then log
off as quick as you could, because AOL only gave you
five hours a month for “free”.
Now, all the websites have to “do” something. What
most do, is make it possible for people to conduct
transactions with the website host without actually
going to the company, physically. That doesn’t work
so well for a church.
What Tope Ogunyankin and I have come up with for the
St. Andrew’s website to do, is a message board. It’s
classic Internet: message boards are a way to exchange
ideas, and debate--and sometimes really debate issues
and concerns of the day.
On the St. Andrew’s message board, current topics
include a discussion about the previous Sunday’s
service, a Classified thread where you can ask for
help painting your spare room or get rid of a sofa
bed; and we’re setting up discussions about favorite
Bible stories, favorite hymns and ideas for
fundraisers and Movie Nights.
The message boards are moderated and you have to
activate your account before you can begin posting.
The very-easy-to-follow instructions can be found on
the message board site, or go to the St. Andrew’s website
and click on the “Discussions” link on the left side of the page.
I am really excited about this new feature, and I
hope a lot of you will participate in the discussions.
It has the potential to keep our community of faith
alive and dynamic during the six days of the week we
are not physically together!
