Dear Friends,
Today, Tuesday February 21 at about 2:30 p.m. our beloved sister peacefully entered the church triumphant,
in the company of three friends who dearly loved her. As was her desire, she was at home to the end,
and she was free of pain.
Her brother Glen and his wife Mary were down for the weekend as were most of her nieces and nephews
who all had the chance to say “good-bye,” as did many, many of her friends.
The funeral is TENTATIVELY set for this Sunday, February 26 at 3:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Los Angeles,
depending on the confirmation of her family.
Bishop Dean Nelson will preside
and Pastor Nancy Winder, a friend of over 35 years will preach at a celebration of life planned by Carol and Nancy.
I will send another email confirmation of this when I have it.
In lieu of flowers, may I remind you of the Carol A. Nolte Endowed Scholarship at Augustana College,
Rock Island, ILL, Carol’s alma mater. The scholarship, begun by the congregation in honor of Carol’s
retirement, will go to students who major in English or Music. To date we have raised nearly $15,000 of
the required $25,000 to endow the scholarship, and Carol set aside a sizeable amount of her estate to contribute to it.
Thanks to all of you for all of your kindness and support to Carol, the congregation and me during this process of her dying.
You have been a real gift, and I have personally appreciated it a great deal.
Faithfully,
Ruth Sievert,
Interim Pastor
